Stump the Schwab featured three rounds. The first round teams had to answer on their own, the next round they could seek help from Howie and the third round wrong answers would deduct points but they could pass without penalty or ask the audience. The team with the highest point total would move on to the championship round.

Mike Golic and his Fighting Irish teammate prepare to face Howie Schwab head-to-head in best of three contest. A typical question in the Championship round was "List the multiple Cy Young awards winners". Play would bounce back and forth between Howie and the team until an incorrect answer was given.

Golic's teammate didn't miss a question and it appeared that without much help from his celebrity partner Stumped the Schwab and won the grill.
