New Holiday Fireworks Bring Nightly Snowfalls To Disneyland November 3 Through January 1
Disneyland Park will magically become "The 'Merriest Place on Earth' from Friday, November 3, through New Year's Day, January I, 2001 showcasing a festive array of Yuletide entertainment and decor. The highlight of the celebration is "Believe... In Holiday Magic," a beautiful, new fireworks spectacular capped by a wondrous snowfall finale along Main Street, U.S.A.. and other locations.
The first holiday pyrotechnic display in Disneyland history, "Believe... In Holiday Magic" is a special version of the Park's popular 45th anniversary fireworks spectacular, and wilt be performed nightly throughout the season. The biggest fireworks show ever presented at the Park, this aerial production presents an enchanting journey through holiday memories with beautiful holiday music and a shimmering array of pyrotechnics. The show will be presented once each evening, with varying performance times.
In the show's wintry finale, snow flakes will gently float down on guests in four locations around the Park. These snowflakes will fall from the sky along Main Street, U.S.A.; in the forecourt of Steeping Beauty Castle; along Small World Mall; and near New Orleans Square along the Rivers of America.
"Believe - In Holiday Magic" is unlike any other aerial display presented at Disneyland, and involves the greatest number of fireworks ever used in a Park performance three times larger than "Fantasy in the Sky" of years past. Low-level and high-level pyrotechnics are launched from 13 backstage locations, creating a "layered" aerial effect. A musical score featuring a full symphonic orchestra supports this colorful production.
The show's Yuletide storyline is a heart-warming mix of dazzling overhead images, traditional holiday music and an inspiring narrative. All these elements are artfully woven together to remind us of our favorite memories of the holidays and encourages us to cherish them and always keep them in our hearts. Five "acts" comprise the production: The Magic of Christmas, Christmas Merriment, A Heartfelt Holiday, Holiday Wonders and The Spirit of Christmas.
Among the amazing effects guests will see overhead are smiling faces, streaking comets that fly across the heavens, a flurry of white sparkles that resembles a fantastic snowfall and a pyrotechnic glow depicting the Northern Lights. Perhaps the most stunning moment will come during the show's finale. Two comets will streak toward each other in the sky and explode into a burst of light that heralds a beautiful snowfall that will fall on guests in the four Park areas.
In addition to the new aerial display, the classic "it's a small world"' attraction will again be transformed into "it's a small world holiday" with an enchanting Yuletide atmosphere that creates a different way to experience this favorite. Guests will discover scenes that feature the holiday decorations of each international region, special effects and more than 300 animated "Children of the World" happily singing "Jingle Bells" and "Deck the Halls" in counterpoint to the "it's a small world" theme. The attraction's mall and facade will be dressed with over 300,000 glittery lights, international decorations and topiaries to create a twinkling nighttime wonderland.
Returning for its second season is the Southern-style Christmas celebration in New Orleans Square. The charming district will come alive with festive displays of special New Orleans decorations and lights draped from balconies and stretched across the narrow streets. Upbeat Dixieland versions of traditional holiday melodies will fill the air, provided by talented street performers.
On Main Street, U.S.A., a 60-Foot-tall Christmas tree decked with 8,000 lights and ornaments will form a fanciful centerpiece, and all the area's shops will be adorned with colorful decorations and offer Yuletide merchandise. Friendly Main Street "townspeople" will stroll about, singing carols and welcoming guests to their old-fashioned neighborhood.Frontierland will be decked with rustic decor including cornhusk garland; wood wreaths with berries, nuts and pinecones; and natural leaf garland. Sleeping Beauty Castle will take on an especially magical took with elaborate ornaments and old-style lanterns that glow with candlelight. The holiday cheer will also spread to Mickey's Toontown, where the characters' domain will be decorated with crazy "toon" garland, lights and Christmas trees.
In every corner of the resort, a wealth of holiday foods, snacks and beverages will be available at Disneyland restaurants, counter locations and street carts.
The Park's traditional "A Christmas Fantasy" parade will be presented daily from Thanksgiving Day, November 23, through January l, 2001. The Disneyland Hotel and The Disneyland Pacific Hotel (becoming Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel on November 1) will also join in with decor and activities starting Thanksgiving Day. All the Yuletide features throughout the entire Resort will then continue daily through January 1, 2001.
