Avalon Cove at Disney's Californai Adventure Features Seaside Dining with Disney Characters

When it splashes onto the scene, the "under the sea" world of Avalon Cove restaurant in DISNEY'S CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE will provide a picturesque setting for family dining that features spectacular views of Paradise Pier, appearances by the Disney characters and a wide selection of specialty entrees. The redesigned restaurant debuts on Wednesday, November 21 and will be open daily for lunch and dinner.

This casual, table-service restaurant will provide guests with a seagull's eye-view of Paradise Bay and will be a favorite beachfront stop for some famous Disney characters, including Ariel, the Little Mermaid; Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip 'n Dale. The restaurant features colorful wall murals of sunken settings and friendly sea creatures, locations for character photos, and a new prix fixe menu that offers a wide range of dining options.

Located along the boardwalk entrance into Paradise Pier, Avalon Cove resembles a beautiful, fanciful sandcastle. A two-level complex, it is a fantasy world that mingles shoreline activity and underwater wonders. In the dining room, guests are treated to an interior design that reflects an art deco-looking "realm of the sea" inspired by the wonders of the blue depths.

The menu features three-course meals of family-friendly comfort foods, with inspiration drawn from foods traditionally served along the beachfront American Boardwalk. The entrees include home-style meatloaf, crispy battered halibut, chicken pot pie, and four-layer vegetable lasagna, as well as an assortment of soups, entrée salads, sandwiches, and desserts. White cheddar cheese mashed potatoes are a specialty.

Children have their own special menu. The "Octadog" is a hot dog sliced to resemble an eight-armed octopus guarding his bed of shell-shaped macaroni and cheese. Other dishes, including chicken nuggets, fish sticks and mini corn dogs, are served in souvenir sand pails with the condiments placed in a souvenir sand shovel. A wide range of original desserts is available on both the adult and children's menus.

During the meals, diners will be invited to pose for photos with Ariel, the Little Mermaid, who will appear in a scenic photo setting. Minnie, Goofy and other Disney pals will be outfitted in seaside resort wear as they meet and greet their fans.

Guests will also be encouraged to become part of the show. Sand pails full of musical seashells and sand dollars will be shared with each table, allowing everyone to shake, rattle or jingle along with the music. During the signature song, "Under the Sea," everyone is invited to join the Disney characters and Avalon Cove Cast Members in a high-energy, follow-the-leader-style version of the song.

Combining a magical atmosphere with Disney characters and family dining, Avalon Cove is sure to create meals that are memorable for the entire family.
