The Beach Boys Kick Off 16 Rock 'n Roll Talents Over a Six-Week Period

For 42 days straight beginning Saturday, July 13, Disney's California Adventure park will be rockin' and rollin' with a stellar lineup of 16 famed recording groups as part of its new "Disney's Rockin' the Bay" summer music series. Making a big splash to kick off the inaugural weekend, July 13-14, will be The Beach Boys, phenomenal stars of the California surfin' sound, who are famed for such chart-topping songs as "Surfin USA," "Help Me Rhonda," "Fun, Fun, Fun," "Kokomo" and many others.

Most acts will entertain for two or three dates, and each will perform twice each afternoon along the seaside-themed Paradise Bay. The shows will be daily entertainment features through Friday, August 23, and are included with park admission.

Collectively, the bands assembled for the "Disney's Rockin' the Bay" series have churned out an impressive string of hits covering the '60s through the '80s. Bands will perform for two 45-minute sets each afternoon on a special stage at Golden State Park along the Paradise Bay waterfront.

After The Beach Boys, other July acts include: The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards, famous for their smooth sounds of "My Girl," "Just My Imagination" and "Get Ready;" the rich vocals of David Clayton Thomas with Blood, Sweat & Tears, known for "Spinning Wheel" and "You've Made Me So Very Happy;" and The Commodores' soulful songs of "Three Times A Lady," "Brick House," "Sail On" and "Nightshift."

July also features: the British sound of Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone, among whose classics are "I'm Henry The Eighth (I Am)," "I'm Into Something Good" and "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter;" Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, a group that put together a string of #1 hits including "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," "Sara," "We Built This City" and "No Way Out;" and The 5th Dimension, whose many upbeat vocals are "Up, Up and Away," "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In," "Wedding Bell Blues" and "Stoned Soul Picnic;" and Paul Revere And The Raiders, a band that amassed an amazing 25 consecutive hit singles including "Kicks" and "Indian Reservation."

Among the artists booked for August are: The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, who topped the charts with the memorable "Happy Together," "She'd Rather Be With Me" and "Elenore;" The Buckinghams with their '60s songs "Kind of A Drag," "Don't You Care" and "Hey Baby, They're Playing Our Song;" The Four Tops, whose many soulful melodies include "Reach Out, I'll Be There," "I Can't Help Myself," "Same Old Song" and "Baby I Need Your Loving;" the '70s hits of America, most famous for "Horse With No Name" and "Ventura Highway;" and The Monkees starring Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz, who jumped from television to create such pop classics as "Last Train to Clarksville," "I'm A Believer," "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" and "Daydream Believer."
