Drama Students "Create Instant Theatre" During
Disney's New Improv Workshop
At the Disneyland® Resort in Southern California
In today’s world where most things have become instant, the art of “instant
theatre? is what improv is all about. Student thespians can study and perform
this inventive craft in the positive, magical environment of Disney with its new
Improvisational Acting Workshop. This high-energy, 90-minute interactive seminar
is the latest addition to Disney’s Magic Music Days youth educational program at
the Disneyland Resort in Southern California.
A professional Disney performer leads students through exercises of developing a
successful scene, establishing vivid, original characters and telling a story
through improvisation. With no use of props or costumes, the pace of the
workshop is quick, entertaining and encourages listening, responding, self
confidence and team work with fellow actors.
“Our aim is to further ignite students’ passion for performing, to inspire their
creative thinking and reinforce the teachings of their drama instructors,? Duane
Dike, manager of Talent Operations at the Disneyland Resort. “The whole class
gets into the act to discover how imagination can be used ‘Disney style’ to add
spark to an individual performance.?
Designed for grades 7 through 12 (ages 12-18), Disney Magic Music Days Improv
Workshops can be designed as one-, two- or three-day packages including
admission to Disneyland and/or Disney’s California Adventure™. Prices may vary
depending on the season and package, with the best values on multi-day visits.
The sessions take place in a backstage facility at Disneyland and are scheduled
during the park’s operating hours.
Disney’s Magic Music Days offers dynamic educational programs designed for
students of the arts, in groups of 15 or more. Other workshops are available for
vocal, instrumental and dance ensembles and can include actual performances in
the parks. Disney Magic Music Days has been recognized by the National
Association for Music Education (MENC) as meeting standards established by the
National Standards for Arts Education. For more information or to request an
