Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea Parks Attendance Figures for Fiscal Year 2009
Tokyo Disney Resort® has announced that the total combined attendance at Tokyo Disneyland® Park and Tokyo DisneySea® Park during the fiscal year 2009 (April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010) amounted to 25,818,000 persons. This is 0.9% (218,000persons) more than projected at the beginning of this fiscal year. Although the figure is 94.8% (1,403,000persons) of the attendance figure for last year, it is the second highest in the Resort’s history.
This better-than-projected attendance can be attributed to the opening of two new attractions year 2009, Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek! at Tokyo Disneyland and Turtle Talk at Tokyo DisneySea, as well as to the first-ever Halloween event to be offered at Tokyo DisneySea Park. It was expected from the beginning of year 2008 that the attendance figure would be lower in comparison with the previous year 2008 (April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009) since it was the Resort’s 25th anniversary and attendance typically spikes in anniversary years. However, this year’s figure is greater than year 2007 annual attendance figure of 25,424,000 persons, showing a gradual growth trend continuing for annual Park attendance.
Note: Fiscal years that correspond to the Resort’s special anniversary years show a sharp increase in attendance not found in ordinary years. This can be attributed to the strong effect that anniversary years have on the category of people who are not normally influenced by the usual measures taken by Oriental Land’s theme park business for generating attendance.
