Earth Day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Today, as is every Earth Day, was Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s birthday. As the park enters its 16th year, it is about to go through many changes. Work has begun on “Avatar” land so Camp Minnie-Mickey is no more. But one thing that has not changed is the parks commitment to conservation. Today, the park celebrated with a Party for the Planet. This year, the celebration was tied to Disneynature’s Bears.

The festivities are focused at Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Families could play a supermarket game and learn how their purchase decisions can impact the environment. There were also cast members to talk about conservation projects and the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will continue to change, but one thing will hopefully remain. Every time Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrates its anniversary, conservation will be at the celebration’s heart.
