Star Wars Legion Art Exhibit

This past weekend, Disney Consumer Products celebrated Star Wars Day with a special exhibit that dared artists to reimagine the classic Stormtrooper helmet.  Held at the Robert Vargas in Los Angeles, the event from Star Wars Legion featured dozens of creations that artists from all areas of The Walt Disney Company — including Lucasfilm, Disney Channel, Marvel and Pixar — as well as others hand picked by event co-sponsor, Neff presented.

Each artist took the same sized, original, white Stormtrooper helmet and were free to do whatever they could think of with it.  Some bedazzled them, some painted them, and some turned them into objects.  Other fandoms got involved, as there were helmets with allusions to Doctor Who, Frozen, The Rocketeer, and, of course, plenty of food items (of which everyone is a fan).  There was even one re-sculpted to resemble the man himself, George Lucas.

According to signage at the event, the Star Wars Legion exhibit, “celebrates all that is Star Wars and is meant to inspire fun and encourage creativity.”  It continued to say, “The collective experience of Star Wars has forever changed our culture and struck a powerful chord, creatively and globally.  A defining even for one generation, it is now embraced by new generations as well”.

While the event is now over, you can view photos of some of the artwork below.
