In June, one year after the tragic death of Lane Thomas Graves following an alligator attack at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, it was announced a memorial statue featuring a lighthouse would be erected in the toddler’s memory. Recently, that sculpture was unveiled at the resort. A plaque affixed to the sculpture bears the name of the foundation founded in Lane’s name and says “A Beacon of Hope, A Light of Love.”
At the time the sculpture was announced, Walt Disney World president George Kalogridis said, “To provide continued awareness of the foundation and its mission, we’ve commissioned an original sculpture of the lighthouse the foundation uses as a symbol of love and hope, to be installed on our property.” For more information on the Lane Thomas Foundation, you may visit their Facebook page.
