What’s Not So Good About It: … like you were dying to hear those again. All the other tracks here should be found elsewhere in any true Disney fans music collection, and some (“If I Can’t Love Her”, “Kiss the Girl”) are marginal ‘princess songs’ at best. Extra demerits for making me listen to “Out of Thin Air” again …

What’s Good About It: A ‘volume 2’ to Disney’s Greatest Pop Hits: A Decade of Radio Singles, this edition adds the pop songs from the features Mulan to The Emperor’s New Groove, as well as a rare Tina Turner recording of “He Lives in You” from The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride.
What’s Not So Good About It: It also features the direct to video ditties from The Hunchback of Notre Dame II and Cinderella II, sung by pop wannabes Brooke Allison and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Like the Princess album, true Disney buffs will have most of these songs on the original soundtracks, although fans of these versions (I hear there are some) may like having them all together on one disc.

Album Title: Mickey’s Dance Party!
Album Type: Disneyfied Pop Album
What’s Good About It: A follow-up of sorts to the more enjoyable, Latin-flavored La Vida Mickey album of two years ago, this collection of (according to the cover blurb) “today’s hottest dance songs done Mickey style!” is sanitized dance pop for the tween set. One track stands out, the Barenaked Ladies-style babble of “Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me … Again!)”. Oddity: Goofy (voice of Bill Farmer) sings that ode to depression, “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”.
What’s Not So Good About It: It’s been awhile since “I Want Candy”, “Dancing in the Street” and “Gonna Make You Sweat” have been “today’s hottest”. Disney is always a little late in jumping on musical trends (anyone remember Mickey Unrapped?), as evidenced here by such embarrassingly ‘five minutes ago’ slang as “Yo, Mickey is in the house!”. And whoever thought anyone would want to listen to such dreck as “Who Woke Snow White Up?” (sung to the ‘tune’ of “Who Let the Dogs Out?”) should be put to sleep, pronto. Word ta yo motha’ …
