Chris O’Donnell to Star in ABC’s “9-1-1: Nashville”
The former Boy Wonder will now serve as Captain to the newest 9-1-1 team.
Chris O’Donnell is returning to TV, joining the spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville in the lead role.

What’s Happening:
- Variety reported the news, revealing O’Donnell will star in ABC’s 9-1-1: Nashville when it debuts sometime during the 2025-2026 broadcast season.
- O’Donnell character, Captain Don Sharpe, is described as “a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his beloved son. Don’s a devoted husband and family man but he has his secrets."
- The series will bring O’Donnell back into a realm he knows well, as it will be his second spinoff of a hit procedural series, given he starred for 14 seasons on CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles.
- After his breakout role in Scent of a Woman, O’Donnell’s films included The Three Musketeers, The Chamber, Vertical Limit and playing DC Comics hero Robin in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.
- 9-1-1: Nashville will be the third series in a franchise that includes the original 9-1-1, which originally aired on FOX and moved to ABC last year, and the recently completed 9-1-1: Lone Star, which ran for five seasons on FOX.
- 9-1-1: Nashville will be executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Angela Bassett (who stars on the original series), Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani, who both serve as writers alongside Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Murphy, Falchuk, and Minear created 9-1-1. Disney’s 20th Television is the studio behind the franchise.
