Mouse Madness 11: Cutest Disney Character - Bracket Revealed

Help us crown the cutest Disney character!

It’s time for the madness again. For many, March means college basketball, but for Laughing Place, it means another Disney tournament. This year, we have the nearly impossible task of crowning the cutest Disney character!

Of course, Disney has a very long history of creating adorable characters for us to love. Everyone has their favorite, but choosing the cutest of them all is much easier said than done. So, we have put together a bracket consisting of what we have determined to be 16 of the cutest Disney characters (a difficult task in and of itself) and we are giving you the opportunity to vote for who should be crowned the cutest.

As always, we started by splitting this bracket into four regions: Disney Animation, Pixar, Live Action and Parks. From there, we chose four of the most ridiculously cute characters to fit into those regions and created our eight opening round matchups.

Voting will begin Thursday. Here is this year’s “Mouse Madness" bracket:

Disney Animation

Perhaps the most difficult region to select because of its history, Disney Animation sees Stitch take the top seed. The beloved creature has become something of a Disney icon, so he was a fairly easy choice as the favorite in this region. After Stitch, the seeding became much more difficult. Baby Moana took the second spot but easily could have missed the tournament altogether. Baymax is next as perhaps the most untraditionally cute character in the entire tournament. And Dumbo rounds out the region, taking us back to classic Disney. There are some very tough matchups here.

And as always, there are plenty of great choices who did not reach the field of 16. Bambi was top of mind when putting this region together but the endearing little deer lost out to Dumbo for the final spot. Piglet was also in heavy consideration for this region. And yes, there are literally hundreds of others who could have made it. We only had 16 spots, people!

Pixar

Another nearly impossible region to select, the Pixar portion of the bracket is headlined by Boo. The Monsters Inc. scene stealer is often thought of as one of the most adorable animated characters we’ve ever seen so she had the strongest case for that top spot. After that, Dug had to be a lock for the tournament because who doesn’t love a talking dog? Perhaps a bit of a surprise here, Baby Dory was just too delightful to leave out. And then we ventured into the world of Pixar Shorts, rounding out the region with Piper.

Of course, there were plenty of other characters in consideration. WALL-E might be them ost obvious snub. Sadness was also being considered for that final spot. And when looking at Pixar Shorts, Bao was of course thought of as well, but fell just short.

Live Action

The Live Action region was interesting because we set the rule of avoiding live-action remakes of animated Disney films. That means no Lion King, no Beauty and the Beast, no… you know what? We don’t need to list them all. You get it. Again though, the top seed was fairly easy to determine because few characters have taken over the internet like Grogu. After him, it was Baby Groot who took the second see in the region. Then we had to go back a bit, eventually finding the oft-forgotten film Homeward Bound (only watch if you’re in need of a good cry), to select Shadow as the third seed. And finally, you can’t leave the muppets out completely so Bean Bunny (specifically from The Muppet Christmas Carol) rounds out the region.

Without considering live action remakes, there weren’t too many characters who came to mind for this region. Flubber? We thought about Flubber. But… no. We also didn’t want to fill this region with just Marvel or Star Wars characters so Cosmo and BB-8 were out.

Parks

This was perhaps the easiest region to select our field of four, but maybe the most difficult to seed. In the end, we decided the love for Figment was too great to put him anywhere else but the top spot. Then, we went international for Chandu to take the second seed. Chuuby grabbed the third spot in the region narrowly beating another familiar Disney bird. And finally, we ventured to Hong Kong for Albert the Monkey to finish the region.

The only notable snub on our list was of course Orange Bird. But Kyle was on the selection committee and if you’ve been a Laughing Place fan for a while you know Kyle HATES Orange Bird.

Again, our Mouse Madness 11 tournament will begin on Thursday, March 20.
