“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Renewed for Third Season Months Before Second Season’s Debut

The early renewal shows Disney+’s faith in what has proven to be an extremely popular series for the streamer.

Demigods, rejoice! Months before the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuts, the popular Disney+ series has officially been renewed for a third season.

What’s Happening:

  • Disney Branded Television and 20th Television made the announcement of a third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians today, ahead of the second season’s debut this December on Disney+.
  • The third season will be based on The Titan’s Curse, the third installment of Rick Riordan’s best-selling book series, which is published by Disney Hyperion.
  • The series has proven to be quite popular, earning a remarkable 16 nominations at the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, with the ceremony set to take place tomorrow in Los Angeles.

  • Season two of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is based on the second installment of the best-selling book series titled The Sea of Monsters.
  • In the second season, Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and the camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.
  • Among the returning stars for the second season include Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn and Daniel Diemer.
  • New additions to the cast include:
    • Sandra Bernhard as “Anger"
    • Kristen Schaal as “Tempest"
    • Margaret Cho as “Wasp"
    • Timothy Simons as “Tantalus"
    • Tamara Smart as “Thalia Grace"
    • Andra Day as “Athena"
  • Production recently wrapped in Vancouver, and fans can look forward to its second season premiere on Disney+ this December.
