“Stranger Things” Star Sadie Sink Joins the Cast of the Next “Spider-Man” Movie
But who’s she playing? Let the internet speculation begin!
The next Spider-Man movie has its first cast addition, with Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink set to join Tom Holland for his next MCU adventure.
What’s Happening:
- The Wrap is among the Hollywood trades reporting that Sadie Sink, best known for her breakout role on Netflix’s Stranger Things will be among the cast for the fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man movie.
- The story for the film is unknown as yet, with Sink the first new cast member revealed for the film, beyond the returning Tom Holland and Zendaya.
- The Wrap notes there are unconfirmed online rumors that Sink could be playing the X-Men’s Jean Grey - though it seems inevitable those rumors would occur, given Jean is among Marvel’s most notable redheads.
- The more obvious Spider-Man specific character for Sink to play would be Mary Jane Watson, though with Zendaya’s Michelle “MJ" Jones-Watson already in the series as an alternate version of that character, that feels less likely… yet obviously not impossible where the multiverse is involved.
- Beyond her work on Stranger Things, Sink is known for films like the Fear Street series and The Whale. She’ll soon be seen as the lead in the Searchlight Pictures/Hulu release, O’Dessa and just began previews on Broadway this week for the play John Proctor is the Villain, with an official opening date scheduled for April 14.
- Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who worked on the scripts for all three of the previous MCU Spider-Man films, are returning to write the fourth installment, with Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton taking over as director from the previous films’ Jon Watts.
- Produced by Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal and released by Sony, the fourth MCU Spider-Man film is going into production this summer, after Tom Holland wraps up work on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and is scheduled to open July 31, 2026.
