Surprise Second Season of “Light & Magic” Docuseries Premiering Next Month on Disney+

Three all-new episodes will continue the journey behind-the-scenes of Industrial Light & Magic.

In a surprise announcement, the documentary series Light & Magic will be returning to Disney+ next month for a second season of three episodes.

What’s Happening:

  • Light & Magic premiered on Disney+ in 2022, granting unparalleled access behind the curtains of Industrial Light & Magic, the special visual effects, animation and virtual production division of Lucasfilm.
  • In an exclusive with Collider, it was revealed that a second season of three episodes will be premiering on Disney+ next month.
  • The three new episodes will be directed by acclaimed director and former ILM employee Joe Johnston, who replaces season one’s director, Lawrence Kasdan.
  • Speaking to Collider, Johnston confirmed that season 2 will pick up right after Jurassic Park, but that it would not follow a strict timeline and would instead jump around all over the place.
  • Work that ILM has done on other movies, such as Twister and Pirates of the Caribbean, will be featured heavily in season 2, along with Casper and War of the Worlds.
  • Season 2 of Light & Magic will premiere April 18th on Disney+.
