California Adventure Direct Entrance from Grand Californian Temporarily Closed

The entrance won’t be available until May.

The special entrance to Disney California Adventure from Disney’s Grand Californian hotel has been temporarily closed and will remain unavailable for the next couple of months.

What’s Happening:

  • The news comes to us via Mickey Visit, who note that the Grand Californian entrance to California Adventure is currently closed and is not expected to re-open until mid-May.
  • Generally, the Grand Californian entrance to California Adventure can be restricted to Disney hotel guests during Early Entry and rope drop hours but is available to any guests for most of the day. This makes it a great short cut from Downtown Disney right into California Adventure, given it drops you into the Grizzly Peak area of the park, not far from Soarin' Around the World.
  • The given reason for the temporary closure is construction, which presumably is due to updating the turnstiles to new automatic entry gates in the same manner both Disneyland and California Adventure are in the process of doing.
  • During the closure of the Grand Californian entrance, besides walking to the main gates, an alternate direct entrance to California Adventure remains the one from Pixar Place Hotel.
