Tokyo Disney Resort Reopening
After being closed for several months, Tokyo Disney Resort has welcomed guests back to their theme parks and resorts. Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea reopened on July 1st and guests were very happy to be celebrating the magic. Below is a list of the updated health and safety guidelines that guests and Cast Members are required to follow during their visit.
Guidelines, Restrictions, and Safety Measures
Tokyo Disney Resort will be welcoming guests home in the coming weeks and while that’s very exciting the reopening plan comes with new health and safety guidelines designed to protect all guests and Cast Members. From face coverings and temperature checks, to elevated cleaning standards, there are several new measures guests can expect to encounter on their next visit to Tokyo Disney Resort.
Tokyo Disney Resort has updated their safety measures per Japanese government guidelines including enhanced sanitation procedures, distance spacing, and screening. Disney is asking that all guests and cast members comply with following to be allowed to visit the Resorts and Parks:
- Take part in temperature screening –Temperature screenings will be conducted during admission time, and guests with a temperature of 37.5° C (99.5°F) or above, or cold-like symptoms will be asked to refrain from entering.
- Wear masks – Guests will be required to wear masks at all times inside the parks, except when dining. However, in order to prevent heat stroke, during the summer season when the temperature and humidity are high, if guests are outdoors with adequate distance from other people, masks may be removed. Please take your used mask home. Please be considerate of others when coughing or sneezing.
- Maintain social distancing – Markings are installed to maintain the necessary distance in facility queue lines, seats, restaurant tables, benches, etc., and guests are asked to cooperate in order to maintain social distancing.
- Wash and sanitize hands – Hand sanitizers are placed in attractions, shops, restaurants, restrooms and other locations in the Park, so please sanitize hands and fingers and wash hands regularly.
Other Safety Measures:
- Cashless transactions such as credit cards and electronic money are recommended.
- If guests become ill after entering the park, they may be asked to leave depending on their symptoms.
- If you don’t feel well after entering the Park, please go to Central First Aid or contact a cast member for assistance.
- To prevent heat stroke, please remember to stay hydrated.
Personal Safety Measures:
- Individuals for whom the following applies are asked to refrain from visiting:
- Guests who have been in close contact with individuals who have tested positive for the new coronavirus
- Guests who have family members or close acquaintance who are suspected of being infected
- Guests who have been to countries or areas that the government has banned entry from, or requires monitoring after entering the country, as well as guests who have been in close contact with residents of the above, in the last 14 days
Exercising Caution:
- Elderly guests and those with medical conditions who may develop serious symptoms if infected are advised to consider cautiously whether to visit the parks.
- Guests’ personal information may be provided to public health authorities upon request for the purpose of preventing the spread of the new coronavirus.
Tokyo Disney Resort Parks
Reopening Date:
- Tokyo Disney Resort reopened Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea on July 1, 2020.
Current Operating hours:
- Tokyo Disneyland 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Tokyo DisneySea 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
Purchasing Tickets:
- Tickets are available on the Tokyo Disney Resort Online Reservations & Tickets website
- Until further notice, only guests who have purchased fixed-date tickets online will be allowed to enter.
- Tickets will be offered up to approximately one month ahead.
- Five tickets can be purchased at a time.
- On the Tokyo Disney Resort Online Reservations & Tickets website, guests will be required to enter their personal information
- Payments can only be made by credit cards.
- Guests staying at the Disney hotels, Tokyo Disney Resort Official Hotels should inquire about admission tickets at each hotel.
Tickets Accepted:
- In order to maintain social distancing at the area around the entrance, 3 types of tickets with different entry times will be sold.
- 1-Day Passport
- Fixed Date Time Passport (11:00 am)
- Fixed Date Time Passport (2:00 pm)
- Please note that all other tickets other than the above, including OpenTickets, Annual Passports, Revisit Passports will not be admitted.
- Annual Passholders will be able to enter a lottery for park admission and Tokyo Disneyland will announce more details at a later date.
- Passholders whose passes were set to expire on or after February 29th will have their passes extended or can request a partial refund for the remainder of their pass.
- Please wear a mask at all times when entering facilities
- As a general rule, social distancing will be maintained between groups on rides and attractions
- Hand sanitizers will be installed at the exits. Guests are encouraged to use it.

Character Meet and Greet Policies
- Disney Characters will greet Guests by incorporating physical distancing.
- Disney Character Greetings, which involve contact with Guests, will be suspended until further notice.

- Restaurant entry may be restricted at times
- Tables, chairs, counter tops, etc., will be regularly wiped down
- Plexiglass barriers will be installed in front of the cash registers in some shops
- Printed menus will not be available, and guests will be requested to scan codes using their smartphones to check the menu.
- Drinking fountains inside restaurants are not available. For drinking water, please contact a Cast Member for assistance.
- Please always wear a mask when entering restaurants, as well as before and after dining.
- Hand sanitizer is available at the restaurant.
- In the queue areas, markers will be placed to indicate the distance to keep between parties of guests.
- When exchanging cash with guests, we will be using trays
- Guests requesting popcorn refills will be given two regular size boxes of popcorn. We ask Guests to refill their popcorn bucket on their own.
- Single rider operations will be suspended until further notice.
- FASTPASS will be suspended in order to allow for the necessary queue management on attractions.
Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels
Disney Hotels will reopen starting on Tuesday, June 30. This includes:
- Disney Ambassador Hotel
- Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta
- Tokyo Disneyland Hotel
- Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel (only Wish and Discover will remain closed)
The hotel guest benefits and services will be modified until further notice. With the reopening, we are implementing measures in accordance with the guidelines developed by the Japan Hotel Association, to focus on promoting the health and safety of our guests and cast members.
As the hotels around Tokyo Disney Resort reopen, new safety measures are in place for all guests and Cast Members.
- Disney Hotels will reopen with controlled capacity during the initial phase.
- Increased cleaning and sanitization in guest rooms, restaurants, and other areas of the building including high touch points.
- Items that are provided to guests for temporary use or rental will be sanitized every time after being used.
- The building will be well ventilated.
- Plexiglass barriers will be installed at the front desks, guest service desks, register counters at restaurants, etc.
- Cast members will be temperature-screened when they arrive at work, and will wash and sanitize hands regularly.
- Cast members will wear masks. They will wear gloves when handling guest luggage.
- Tokyo Disney Resort will be enforcing physical distancing at restaurants, lobbies, pools, fitness centers and other public areas.
- Where available, guests are recommended to use the Tokyo Disney Resort App online check-in.
- Only guests who are staying overnight and guests with reservations already made at restaurants, weddings, and banquets will be allowed into the building.
- Temperature screenings will be conducted when entering the building, and guests with a temperature of 37.5° C (99.5°F) or above or cold-like symptoms will be asked to refrain from entering.
- Like Ikspiari and the theme parks, face coverings are required when entering public areas outside of your unit.
- Tokyo Disney Resort will resume accepting room reservations online via reservation and purchase site from 11:00 am on Friday, June 26, 2020.

Ikspiari Shopping Center
Ikspiari has already begun its phased reopening. Guests will need to follow the updated health and safety guidelines which include wearing facial coverings at all times and have their temperature check before being allowed entry. Select locations are open to guests, however they are operating at limited capacity and with limited hours.
