As ABC’s countdown to the Oscars continues, ABCNews.com is getting into the mix with a March Madness style bracket trying to find the best Oscar movie from the Past 64 years (no play-in games). The Oscars are important to Disney as they are one of the top ABC broadcasts of the year and give the channel plenty of promotional opportunities. Here is the press release:
The countdown to 86th annual Academy Awards is underway and now users have a chance to weigh in on all the action. Today ABC News Digital introduced “The Best Oscar Movie from the Past 64 Years,” a new, interactive bracket available on desktop and ABC News’ mobile products. JCPenny is the exclusive launch sponsor of the bracket featured on ABCNews.com. The 86th annual Academy Awards kicks off Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.

Throughout the month of February, participants can select their favorite Oscar-winning films from the past 64 years online to move their Best Picture pick to the #1 bracket spot. Users can vote for their film choice on ABCNews.com or via Facebook and Twitter.

After users vote on the initial round of 64 films, ABC News will tally who has moved on to the next round of voting. Users can continue to vote in each of the six rounds until brackets close on Thursday, February 27th. The big winner of “The Best Oscar Movie from the Past 64 Years” will be announced by ABC News on Friday, February 28th. The full schedule of brackets is below:
