ABC30/KFSN-TV Fresno has announced the premiere of an original documentary for streaming — Mountain Strong: Surviving the Creek Fire.

- Local ABC station ABC30/KFSN-TV Fresno announced that the original documentary Mountain Strong: Surviving the Creek Fire will be available to stream Sunday, April 25 on the ABC30 news app “ABC30 Central CA” on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku.
- The documentary will look at one of the state’s largest natural disasters and how a community is working to rebuild.
- The natural disaster occurred on Labor Day weekend of 2020 when a small wildfire ignited in Central California’s Sierra National Forest, becoming the single largest wildfire recorded in state history, displacing thousands of families.
- The documentary will feature never-before-seen exclusive interviews including the Army National Guard pilots and soldiers who rescued hundreds of campers and families, Fresno County Sheriff deputies, Shaver Laker area volunteer fire chiefs, and stories of those who are struggling to rebuild their community.

Ty and Tara Gillet – “Lifelong residents of Pine Ridge, a small mountain community near the resort town of Shaver Lake, are owners of the Cressman’s General Store, a community hub since 1904. Familiar with the risk of wildfire, they never imagined that one year after acquiring ownership of Cressman’s their entire lives would change.”
Dylan and Breanne Gault – “The Gaults share their harrowing experience from the Creek Fire and their plan to help save their neighbor and friend’s store, the Cressman’s General Store.”
Sean and Amy Osterberg – “A high school principal and elementary teacher, respectively, share firsthand the damaging effects of a massive disaster on children, as well as their family, and what recovery looks like.”
John Mount – “A retired forester for power company Southern California Edison, Mount provides fascinating insight of the history of Shaver Lake and what he feels needs to be done to prevent another Creek Fire from occurring.”
Morgan Kemple – “A local resident and survivor of a previous fire knows firsthand the damage a wildfire can cause to a family. She lost the father of her two daughters in a wildfire in 2016 when his dozer rolled while fighting a fire. Four years later, she relives her worst nightmare when getting a call that the Creek Fire near Mammoth Pools Reservoir trapped her sister and two daughters.”
