A Taste of Morimoto Asia’s Special Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Menu

Morimoto Asia has always been a centerpiece of Disney Springs, both figuratively and physically. As you would expect, this amazing restaurant serves up a great menu in honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Japanese master chef Masaharu Morimoto is a name known throughout the world for being innovative and the chefs at his signature restaurant have taken on the same challenges.

I was lucky enough to be invited to taste some of the menu offerings created to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and I hope to return to savor them all again. For the dedicated Asain Heritage & Pacfic Island Special menu, I felt like I was back on the big island eating dinner along the North Shore, but with beautiful 20 foot chandeliers hanging above me.

My appetizer was the Lomi Lomi Salmon Tartare, described as “Hawaiian salt cured Faroe Island Salmon with tomatoes, onions and scallions, jalapeno, and shiso.” It was a perfect start to the meal and a great way to judge our chopstick skill level, as our server Hein teased.

One of the items that I fell in love with on my visit to Hawaii was loco moco, a very basic dish with rice, hamburger patty, fried egg, and gravy. But of course, the chefs here had to take the basic meal and turn it up to 11 with A5 Wagyu Loco Moco. “House blended burger with A-5 wagyu and Filet Mignon, served over a sizzling rice bowl topped with a sunny side up cage free egg and teriyaki mushroom gravy.” This is an item I will be thinking about for a long time and they can’t just bring it to the table and drop it off, there was a beautiful presentation where they poured the mushroom gravy on everything.

Dessert came in the form of Halo Halo. a Filipino crushed ice dessert with flavored jellies, condensed milk, tropical fruits and popping boba. As a California boy, popping boba has always been a favorite. With all of the ingredients inside this dessert, I would return for this alone!

This menu is only available for a limited time. Reservations can be made online by visiting the official Morimoto Asia website.
