Disney has just filed plans with the South Florida Water Management District to expand ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World. The plans call for a new multi-story building behind the Josten’s Center, with 286,000 square feet of space. There are also plans to add an additional parking lot

The last major expansion of the complex was in 2008 with the opening of the Josten’s Center. The center opened in 1997 and took on ESPN branding in 2010.

There is no word what the expansion would be used for but the complex has seen a new influx of events including the Invictus Games as well as the site being considered for a NBA D-League team.

Previously plans were announced for a major bowling complex in partnership with local government, but those plans were scrapped amid the 2008 economic downturn.
