Longtime stuntman, stun coordinator and actor Bradley James Allan has passed away at the age of 48, according to Deadline.
- Allan most recently served at the supervising stunt coordinator and second-unit director on Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
- He was also a longtime member of Jackie Chan’s team of stunt performers.
- Not much is known about the cause of death, but Chan announced on his website that Allan passed away due to illness.
- Some of Allan’s other credits include Solo: A Star Wars Story, Avatar and all three Kingsman films.
- Allan served as the supervising stunt coordinator on The King’s Man, which is set to debut in theaters in December.
- Allan, a native of Melbourne, began his career in 1997 with Chan’s film Mr. Nice Guy.
- That film marked the beginning of the long partnership between Allan and Chan, which included films like Gorgeous, Shanghai Noon, The Tuxedo, the second and third Rush Hour films and many others.
What they’re saying:
- Jackie Chan: “Many years ago while I was filming Mr. Nice Guy, he was just a fan and I remember him coming to visit the set. At that time, he was crazy about Chinese Kung Fu and had practiced it for many years. It was because of his amazing skills and talent, he transformed from being a fan to a stuntman, and eventually joined my JC Stunt Team. He even fought with me in Gorgeous, and I think a lot of people remember this skillful boxer in the movie. He has also contributed to many of my movies.”
- Director Edgar Wright (via Twitter): “I’m devastated that the great Brad Allan has left us far too young. He was simply one of the best action directors & designers out there. I was lucky enough to work with him twice (on Scott Pilgrim & The World’s End), and call him a friend. I have more to say about this genius…”
