Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and ABC Studios today announced that Quantico will be leaving Montreal and moving to New York.
The upcoming season will include 22 one-hour episodes, creating hundreds of local jobs and generating an estimated $68 million in New York State spending. All aspects of production, including the writing team, will be based in New York. Filming is set to begin in July, which will create at least 300 full-time jobs in New York State, and post-production will continue through May 2017. Post-production for Quantico’s first season was done in New York, and added over $5 million to the local economy
“New York State knows no creative bounds, and provides an unrivaled opportunity to work with the very best in the industry,” said Governor Cuomo. “We are proud that Disney recognizes all that the Empire State has to offer and that Quantico’s relocation will generate hundreds of jobs for New Yorkers and contribute millions of dollars to local businesses.”
Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Howard Zemsky said, “We are very excited to have the cast and crew of the top-rated series Quantico shooting in New York. The series is a welcome addition to the Empire State’s booming television and film industries, which have created thousands of jobs and contributed significantly to other industries across the state.”
Patrick Moran, Executive Vice President, ABC Studios, said, “ABC Studios values the strong partnership that has developed with Empire State Development (ESD) and we look forward to collaborating with the team to create an excellent television show as well as expanded job opportunities for New Yorkers.”
Mark Gordon, Quantico Executive Producer said, “Ever since my film school days at NYU I have wanted to shoot a series in New York. I am so excited to be working with the most talented film and television professionals in the world. I love New York.”
Joshua Safran, Quantico Executive Producer said, “I couldn’t be more excited to be able to bring Quantico to New York, making it my third show (out of three) to film in the city I’m from. Quantico is partially set in New York and the authenticity and production value gained from simply being amongst its varied environments is invaluable. I feel grateful to join the ranks of shows not just shot in, but fully made in New York, including writing and post-production.”
