Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights to Use Vinyl to Separate Guests from Scareactors in Haunted Houses

We’re just a week away from the start of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida. While we’re all excited for the return of the event, it does appear there will be at least one change to this year’s frights. Universal will use clear vinyl to separate guests from scareactors in their haunted houses, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

  • The 10 haunted houses featured at Halloween Horror Nights 30 at Universal Studios Florida will employ clear vinyl in order to create a protective barrier between guests and scareactors.
  • This will serve as a precaution to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
  • Alyson Solo, senior director of public relations at Universal, told the Orlando Sentinel that these vinyl covers will be placed “in key locations” throughout the houses to create a safer environment.
  • This is not completely new, as Universal used plexiglass barriers during last year’s minimized version of the event.
  • Additionally, team members and performers will be required to wear face coverings indoors during the event.
  • However, Halloween Horror Nights will follow the current policies in place at Universal Orlando Resort, which encourage but do not require guests to wear face coverings indoors.
  • It is not clear yet if guests will be staggered as they enter the houses in order to promote social distancing.

Halloween Horror Nights begins on Friday, September 3 and will run on select nights through October 31.
