With the World’s Most Magical Celebration less than a month away, several construction projects continue all around Walt Disney World. One of those projects appears to be the addition of top-level boarding to the Magic Kingdom ferryboats.
We stopped by Magic Kingdom today to take a look at this ongoing project. On the Richard F. Irvine, we can see work on the top level that will allow for the barriers to open up and welcome guests.
For comparison, here is a look at the General Joe Potter, which is not currently undergoing the same changes. You can see in the photos below that the top level barriers cannot be opened up and will not allow guests to board at that level.
Of course, these changes to the ferryboats themselves wouldn’t mean much if the loading docks weren’t altered as well. Pylons have been added in the water to add a top-level boarding dock.
These changes will help with crowd control and traffic flow when guests arrive at the Transportation and Ticket Center and at Magic Kingdom for the upcoming World’s Most Magical Celebration.
“The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” starts on October 1, 2021 at the Walt Disney World Resort and will continue to be celebrated for 18 months.
