As the ride-sharing service Uber becomes more popular with Walt Disney World guests, the company has announced some changes to how it operates. According to the Orlando Sentinel the company is testing a new program called “first in, first out” which allows drivers to essentially queue at the Ticket and Transportation Center instead of driving around searching for guests. Previously, as it does at other locations around Orlando and in other markets, guests are assigned to the driver who is physically closest to them. Instead, the FIFO method will assign drivers based on who has been in the designated area the longest.
Uber says it is currently testing this new system at Magic Kingdom and, if it works well, may roll it out to the rest of the Walt Disney World area.
