According to a posted statement by Disney that was also e-mailed to users, the Playdom Forums experienced a security breach last month which resulted in an “unauthorized party” accessing certain user data. The incident was noticed on July 12th with a previous instruction apparently taking place on July 9th.
“The unauthorized party acquired the usernames, email addresses, and passwords for playdomforums.com accounts, as well as the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses collected during user registration on playdomforums.com. Please be assured that the Playdom Forum website does not collect credit card numbers or other sensitive personal information, such as Social Security numbers. The investigation concluded that no other Disney websites or apps have been affected in any way,” Disney said.
The company has currently shut down the Playdom Forums site and invalidated passwords for users who were affected. They also recommend that Playdom users who use the same password for other accounts change those immediately.
