This morning nearly 400 people showed up to honor the first responders who lost their lives on 9/11 by participating in the first ever September 11 Disneyland Memorial Walk. As the Orange Country Register reports, the walk was not arranged by Disney but by the Main Street Fire Station 1955 social group, which raised awareness for the event on Facebook. The 2.5-mile walk began and ended in Downtown Disney while winding past the resort hotels and the streets of Anaheim.
John Sarno, a firefighter from Sacramento, headed the event. He told the Register, “We just decided as a group to do it.” He added, “All the proceeds from the sales and donations are going to a charity in New York for scholarships for the families of those who lost their lives.”
