Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain businesses have donated $700,000 to the United Way of Humphreys County in Middle Tennessee to support relief efforts after flooding affected the area. The business along with the Dollywood Foundation raised money from ticket sales over a two day period in October.
What’s Happening:
- Last month, Dolly Parton announced that her Smoky Mountain businesses would raise money to support the victims of the devastating flooding in Middle Tennessee.
- Over the course of two days, proceeds from ticket sales at Smoky Mountain attractions were donated to the United Way of Humphreys County. Participating businesses included:
- Dollywood
- Dolly Parton’s Stampede Dinner Attraction
- Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show
- Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud
- These businesses together with The Dollywood Foundation raised $700,000 for the United Way.
- Parton selected the United Way of Humphreys County because it is the home of her friend, country music legend Loretta Lynn. Lynn chose United Way as the benefactor because of the work they are doing in the rebuilding efforts.
- In 2016, Parton’s hometown stuffed damages from the 2016 Sevier County wildfires and Lynn was quick to lend her support. After the 2021 flooding affected Lynn’s hometown, Parton knew she needed to return the favor and help with Humphreys County’s recovery efforts.

What They’re Saying:
- Dolly Parton: “I hope that this money can be put to good use to help the people of Middle Tennessee with what they need during their recovery. Loretta and her people helped us out so much following the wildfires in 2016 that I just knew we had to do something to help them. They have our prayers and our thoughts as they go through this time.”
