Variety has interviewed Bob Iger about his decision to replace the departing Anne Sweeney with Ben Sherwood as head of the Disney/ABC TV Group. In the interview Bob said, “I have been extremely impressed, not only with the success he has delivered at ABC News but with his work ethic, his intellect, his curiosity and his desire to learn. I think he has great instincts. While we have a deep bench at Media Networks (division) and there are a number of people who are talented and qualified, in the end I thought (Sherwood) was the best choice for the job.”
Ben Sherwood is currently leading ABC News in what is his third tour of duty at Disney. He has received acclaim for bringing Good Morning America into the number one spot. He will be Co-President of the Disney/ABC Television Group until Anne Sweeney departs on February 1, 2015.
