2016 is Already Disney’s Best Year Ever at the Global Box Office

With two full months left in 2016, The Walt Disney Studios have just surpassed last year’s record-breaking global box office haul. As of November 1st, the studio’s films have brought in over $5.8 billion worldwide, topping the previous record for a calendar set in 2015. Along the way has also set new records this year, becoming the fastest studio to hit $2 billion domestically, $3 billion internationally, and $5B globally this past July.

The success of 2016 can be attributed to hits like Captain America: Civil War, ZootopiaFinding DoryThe Jungle Book, and holdover business from the massive Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Additionally, November’s Doctor Strange and Moana as well as December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story promise to add plenty to Disney’s already stellar box office year.
