Variety is reporting that Maker Studios is preparing to layoff 10% of their 380 employees in advance of the closure of the Disney acquisition. A Maker Studios representative declined to comment on the report but said, “Maker’s business is constantly evolving, and we routinely reassess our internal resources and make strategic adjustments, reducing staff in some areas while actively hiring in others.”
Disney recently laid off 700 jobs from Disney Interactive, but unlike other acquisitions Maker Studios will not be a part of that division. The video provider will report directly to Disney CFO Jay Rasulo.
