ESPN will unveil the 2014 American League and National League MLB All-Stars during the Taco Bell All-Star Selection Show on Sunday, July 6, at 7 p.m. ET. Host Karl Ravech, analyst, Hall of Famer and 12-time All-Star Barry Larkin and reporter Tim Kurkjian will reveal and discuss the All-Star selections.
Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown presented by Chevrolet precedes the All-Star Selection Show at 6 p.m., with host Adnan Virk and analyst Eric Wedge. Sunday Night Baseball presented by Taco Bell follows at 8 p.m. as the Tampa Bay Rays and Evan Longoria visit the first-place Detroit Tigers and Miguel Cabrera. Dan Shulman, analyst John Kruk and reporter Buster Olney will provide commentary. Sunday Night Baseball, celebrating its 25th season, is the exclusive, national Major League Baseball game of the week.
The A.L. All-Star Team will have nine elected starters via the fan balloting program, while the N.L. All-Star Team will have eight fan-elected starters. The pitchers and reserves for both squads – totaling 25 for the N.L. and 24 for the A.L. – will be determined through a combination of “Player Ballot” choices and selections made by the two All-Star managers – N.L. skipper Mike Matheny of the St. Louis Cardinals and A.L. manager John Farrell of the defending World Series Champion Boston Red Sox. Immediately following the announcement of the American League and National League All-Star rosters, fans will begin voting to select the final player for each League’s 34-man roster.
The 2014 All-Star Game will be played at Target Field in Minneapolis on Tuesday, July 15. ESPN Radio will serve as the exclusive, national radio home for the 85th All-Star Game. The game will also be available on ESPN Deportes Radio.
