Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger released a statement about the ending of the DACA program for those that immegrated into the country illegally as children: “The Dreamers impacted by this cruel and misguided decision make significant contributions to our economy and our country, and I urge Congress to take immediate bipartisan action to pass legislation that will protect these innocent people.”
According to ABC News, the Trump administration is rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and will phase it out over the next six months, leaving the fates of Dreamers in the hands of Congress.
“To have a lawful system of immigration that serves the national interest. We cannot admit everyone who would like to come here. It’s just that simple,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said at the Department of Justice, announcing the administration’s decision Tuesday. He did not take any questions.
