Mechanical Issue Traps Riders on Knott’s Berry Farm’s Sol Spin for Over 2 Hours

The attraction stopped abruptly leaving 22 riders trapped nearly 6 stories in the air.

Guests at Knott’s Berry Farm got an unexpected thrill Monday afternoon when riders became trapped on the park’s Sol Spin attraction for over two hours.

What’s Happening:

  • According to ABC7, approximately 20 guests were stuck on Sol Spin at Knott’s Berry Farm on Monday afternoon.
  • Sol Spin, located in the Fiesta Village section of the park, is a Mondial Top Scan attraction that spins and flips riders up 6 stories in the air.

  • A spokesperson for the park shared "At approximately 2:00 pm, the Sol Spin ride experienced technical difficulties causing the ride to stop. We are currently working to safely evacuate guests."
  • Air7, ABC7’s news helicopter, arrived at the scene around 3:30 pm, where mechanics could be seen working in cranes to get the ride in motion.

  • Some riders were stuck in a horizontal position, however, no riders were trapped upside down.
  • Mechanics were able to slowly move the ride into a safe position to get the 22 riders off of the attractions. Two riders were taken away in wheelchairs.
  • As of 4:30 pm, all riders had been safely evacuated from the attraction.
