This Spring Training season was set to be the last for the Atlanta Braves at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports, but it seems there’s been a change of plans. Today, the Braves announced that they’ll be returning to the complex for most of the 2019 Spring Training season to ensure there’s enough time to complete work on their new spring home in Sarasota County. However, the team will play their final pre-season game at their new facility before its official opening in April 2019. In a statement, Braves Vice Chairman Emeritus John Schuerholz said, “We are thankful for our good friends at Walt Disney World Resort and are excited for this extension.” The Braves will kick off their now penultimate Spring Training season at ESPN Wide World of Sports on February 26th when they will face the Washingon Nationals.
