Last month, the Walt Disney Company announced that it would be giving many of its non-executive employees a $1,000 bonus while also increasing their education reimbursement program. However, as the Orlando Sentinel reports, Disney is attempting to withhold those bonuses from unionized Walt Disney World workers until a new contract is ratified. Back in December, Disney World’s largest union rejected a contract agreement and the two sides have now resumed talks to work out a deal. In a statement, Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger said, “Wages and bonuses are part of our negotiation process. We will continue to meet with the union to move toward a ratified agreement.” The coalition of unions has now filed a federal complaint against Walt Disney World accusing them of unfair labor practices.
