Earlier this year, news broke that ESPN was considering a sale for FiveThirtyEight, which they acquired in 2013. Now Deadline reports that the sports company has found a new home for the site: ABC News. The move allows the Nate Silver and company to focus on political coverage — notable because Silver’s election coverage is what initially brought him the site to prominence and its name is a reference to the electoral college. As Deadline notes, this type of coverage will be in high demand as the 2018 midterm elections are garnering more attention than in previous years. Both Silver and the FiveThirtyEight staff will join the news division staff, although they will still provide some sports data analysis coverage for ESPN as well. Terms of the deal were not announced.
