Another hot one in store for Walt Disney World today as newly named (as of Thursday afternoon) churns westward.
Plan on highs in the mid 90s today and even though the weekend it will feel hot as blazes. While the temp may cool a couple of degrees towards Saturday and Sunday … with the dewpoints what they are it is going to feel like it is in the triple digits through next week. So plan accordingly and drink plenty of water. Thunderstorm chances are slightly under 50 percent but more than 30 through Monday meaning that it is something you SHOULD plan on and then be happy when it doesn’t happen.
The more important aspect (especially for this time of year) is to keep our eyes on Ernesto. The storm looked like it was having trouble keeping it together first thing Thursday only to have a burst of convection fire up in the afternoon. In fact models were split on whether or not the storm would make it through the weekend. There are some things standing in the way of rapid intensification (mainly some dry air and strong wind sheer). That said if the storm can make it into the Caribbean it is something that all interests in the Gulf will NEED to keep their eyes on as we head into next week. The official forecast has the storm once again becoming a hurricane and water temperatures are definitely strong enough to support that.
While we don’t post weather updates on Laughing Place over the weekend I will be posting tropical updates on Twitter (@WDW_weather) as the need arises. Have a great weekend everyone and how in the heck is it August already?
