The Disneyland Ambassadors for 2015 to 2016 were revealed October 10, 2014. This event also marked the 50th year of the Disney Ambassador program. The ceremony was hosted by 2014’s Ambassadors, Sachiko White and Megan Navarette.
After giving a little insight into the history of the program, Disneyland Ambassadors of years past walked to the stage as their names and corresponding years were called.
This blast of nostalgia won many cheers from the crowd, especially when Julie Reihm Casaletto, the very first Disney Ambassador, was escorted by Mickey Mouse up to the podium. Julie spoke of her time spent with Walt Disney and even shared an anecdote on helping brainstorm the color scheme for Baloo the bear from The Jungle Book. She also passed on her well-wishes to the future generations of Ambassadors.
Next, the four candidates were brought up to the stage individually and were asked to describe a special Disney memory. Megan and Sachiko also shared some of their most cherished moments.
Then, with help from Disneyland President Michael Colgaizer and Mickey Mouse, the next Ambassadors were announced. Allie Kawamoto and Jessica Bernard will represent Disneyland in 2015 to 2016.
The ceremony concluded with all of the Ambassadors from past to present rising to the platform as doves were released and “When You Wish Upon Star” was sung by two vocalists.
The two new Ambassadors were then joined by a marching band along with Mickey and his friends in a celebratory parade down Main Street, U.S.A.
Congratulations to Allie and Jessica! And here’s to another 50 years for the Ambassador program!
