Chef José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup, in collaboration with renowned Spanish design firm Capella Garcia Arquitectura, has revealed new details and a first look at his new Jaleo restaurant coming to Disney Springs.
- The new 22-thousand square foot restaurant will be Andrés’ largest to date and will bring the spirit and flavors of Spain to Disney Springs.
- The architectural form of the building is inspired by an artichoke.
- The structure opens up, inviting guests to enter and experience the very best of Spanish cuisine.
- The two-story building does not have solid walls, creating a completely open environment while protecting diners from the sun.
- The building also features large windows, providing diners with views of the lake.
- A double height central courtyard visually connects the restaurant’s two floors.
- The restaurant will also offer private dining options including two terraces, one overlooking the Disney Springs promenade and another overlooking the lake.
- A quick-service option will be featured at the front-corner of Jaleo, offering Spanish street-food-inspired sandwiches and salads.
- Andrés and Capella aim to surround visitors in the culture of their native country with dynamic visual elements drawn from the culinary delights and landscapes of Spain.
- No opening date has been announced for Jaleo as of yet, despite original plans to open in 2018.
What they’re saying:
- Juli Capella, principal at Capella Garcia Arquitectura: “There are no cubic forms, no opaque walls, no straight lines: here reigns a plant-like organic structure with its dynamic forms. An avant-garde, expressionist and welcoming architecture.”
