National Geographic has reportedly greenlighted a documentary about the daring rescue of a Thai boys soccer team from a flooding cave, according to Deadline.
- The documentary will cover a story from last summer, about a boys soccer team in Thailand that, along with their assistant coach, decided to explore a system of caves. Their exploration resulted in a two-week rescue process that claimed the life of one rescuer.
- The boys and their coach all made it out of the caves alive.
- The documentary will be directed by Academy Award-winning director Kevin MacDonald.
- Michael Lesslie will executive produce, with John Battsek and P.J. van Sandwijk also serving as producers.
- Battsek also produced MacDonald’s Academy Award-winning documentary One Day in September.
