The Service Trades Council Union has called for another vote on the contract that was voted down earlier. Disney World's largest union group is trying to change a few hundred Cast Member's mind in order to get the contract passed. Word on the street is that the union is trying to woo support in backstage areas and cast parking lots in order to finally conclude the negotiation process that began in March. With the margin of defeat so small, they hope this grass roots effort will sway enough people to get the contract passed.
The union is in an odd position when the contract they agreed to is voted down by its members. They return to the bargaining table with very little negotiation power and end up trying to tell the members how generous the company is being with this new contract. While I expect the contract to pass this time, I am very curious to see what will happen if it does not.
