We’ve been excited for Disney+ for quite a while and according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, we’re not the only ones. The new Disney streaming service is reportedly tracking very well in some key demographics ahead of its launch.
- The report sites a survey of more than 1000 people from Ampere Analysis.
- According to the report, 22 percent of respondents said they are planning to subscribe to Disney+.
- That number jumps up significantly in key demographics though as 34 percent of 18-24 year-old respondents said they plan to subscribe, while 36 percent of households with children said the same.
- The demographic with the highest positive response though was those living with friends. 37 percent of that group plans to subscribe to the streaming service.
- The survey also notes that there is an additional 20 percent of all survey takers that says they are “on the fence” about subscribing.
- The numbers in this survey are very similar to much earlier tracking from back in December, which saw 24 percent of people answer that they are either “very likely” or “moderately likely” to sign up.
- Another recent survey showed that Disney could potentially pull a significant number of subscribers from Netflix.
What they’re saying:
- Minal Modha, consumer research lead at Ampere Analysis: “This is highly significant, given that Disney has not even begun their direct-to-consumer marketing campaign for the platform. That they have reached this level of awareness and demand already is quite encouraging.”
