Guests strolling down Main Street USA at Disneyland this morning have noticed an interesting sign placed outside of the Main Street Cinema. Advertising “Cartoons and Collectibles,” the sign also advises passersby to “Come on in!” and “See what’s new!” What’s new is that the venue, which screens several classic Mickey Mouse cartoons, is now doing double duty as a merchandise location.
Inside the cinema, screens do still show the shorts but racks of merchandise, a cash register, and Cast Member have been added. Among the items for purchase are ear headbands, sweatshirts, spirit jerseys, mugs, and more.
With Independence Day just around the corner, currently several of the merchandise selections feature patriotic prints that include the good ol’ stars and stripes.
It’s unclear if this “Cartoons and Collectibles” presentation is just a test or if it will be a permanent addition to Disneyland’s Main Street.
