Animated films may now qualify for the Animated Feature Film category with a running time greater than 40 minutes. In previous years films from 40-70 minutes were unable to qualify as either feature or short. AMPAS also added language to clarify the definition of animated film in light of the industry’s use of “Motion Capture”
