It was a big day for Disney’s high-profile new streaming service Disney+. Not only did the highly anticipated platform go live (though it was not without its technical hiccups) but the stars of two of its biggest shows appeared at the posh outdoor shopping mall The Grove in Los Angeles to help promote its launch day.
That’s right, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson– the animated family known across the globe for their long-running animated sitcom The Simpsons— showed up in person to help boost awareness of their presence on the streaming service launched by their new parent company, Disney. And then the cast of the already-popular new show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series appeared to meet with fans and pose for photos in front of The Grove’s giant Christmas tree.

Guests who visited The Grove during the Disney+ promotional event could also grab a complimentary set of Mickey ears emblazoned with the platform’s logo, plus a Disney+ tote bag to carry your purchases in from the surrounding stores. Speaking of which, a number of retailers in The Grove (like Dominique Ansel Restaurant & Bakery and Groundwork Coffee) offered up Disney+ launch day tie-in deals such as a free chocolate chip cookie with purchase or a free small cup of coffee.
While it seems unlikely that anyone doesn’t already know about Disney+ (and it sure feels like everyone I know personally has already signed up for the service), I’m sure it can’t hurt to continue to get the word out there, especially to well-to-do shoppers who may exist outside of our particular Disney bubble. Regardless, Disney+ is now live to download and stream all (or most, at least) of your favorite Disney-owned movies, TV shows, and shorts– not to mention a good amount of well-produced original content. Be sure to check it out!
