Every year, we here at Laughing Place have a bit of fun by nominating our Disney Turkeys of the Year. However, we realized that, with today being Thanksgiving after all, perhaps we should take a moment to reflect on some of the small things Disney did right this year. With that, here are five Disney Parks improvements we’re thankful for:
These Occupied/Vacant Stall Signs at Magic Kingdom
We can’t tell you how often we’ve waited in lines to use the restrooms at Walt Disney World, only to discover that some of the stalls were actually available the whole time. Thankfully, earlier this year, these clever “occupied” sign arrived in Tomorrowland, making such problems a thing of the past!
The New Pedestrian Walkway at the Disneyland Resort
Soon after the Pixar Pals parking structure opened in Anaheim, a new pedestrian bridge and walkway debuted, making it much easier to skip the tram and walk to the parks via Downtown Disney. Sure this new path might be a bit longer in distance than the old one but it’s far more pleasant in our humble collective opinions.
Free Fortunes with Play Disney Parks App
The Play Disney Parks app may not have received a big push until the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but we’ve loved it for a while now. In fact, one of the features we enjoy most is the ability to get fortunes from Main Street’s Esmeralda without having to pony up a quarter!
The Disney Skyliner
It’s funny that the Skyliner somehow ended up on both our Turkey and “most thankful” lists but, hey, it’s complicated. While the Walt Disney World Resort’s new transportation system had/has some issues, it’s still clear to see the benefits that this addition will have.
Epcot’s Takumi-Tei
If you’re looking for an affordable, family-friendly dining option at Epcot… Takumi-Tei is not the place for you. However, if you’re willing to pay handsomely for an incredible experience and amazingly delicious food — including a steak our reviewer called “the single most delicious thing I have ever eaten anywhere” — then we recommend giving this beautiful spot a shot.
