LEGOLAND Florida is an awesome park to visit anytime of year, but during the holidays it definitely takes on a whole new feel. With fun shows, LEGO character meet and greets, and one of the best light shows you will find anywhere around this is a great weekend trip for the family.
From the second you walk through the gate and are greeted with a giant LEGO wreath and Christmas tree, you can feel the holidays have started.
With activities throughout most of the day, including special holiday LEGO builds for the Master Builders of the family, it is easy to forget about all the other fun activities going on including the meet and greets with some of the biggest names in LEGO!
Of course, everyone needs some holiday treats — and LEGOLAND Florida happens to have two of my favorites: the Merry Mint Twist (or strawberry twist) cone and the Snowball on a Stick!
One of the highlights of the day or any event is the scavenger hunt that takes place throughout Miniland U.S.A. For the holidays, the goal is to find the Santa’s Helpers and identify what activities they are doing which takes you all around Miniland and helps give guest a better look at the detail that goes into the unique piece of the park, plus a chance to see all the fun stops Santa is making across the area.
For the lucky Master Builders who find all of Santa’s Helpers, a commemorative brick is awarded and they are entered into a drawing for four tickets to return to the park.
One of the true hidden gems of LEGOLAND Florida is their shows, each time I visit I’m blown away at the talent and high caliber of the entertainment. For the holiday time, they have three theme shows, each designed to engage and delight the little ones but also fun enough for the adults to enjoy.
North Pole Nonsense
This fun slapstick show is a great way to take a nice break and laugh at some classic pratfalls as these 2 talented elves try to find their place in Santa’s workshop, including juggling and a little Christmas wrapping.
Holly Jolly Jubilee
For anyone that has ever seen a show at the LEGO City Stage, you know the actors are not just the stars of the show, as they always try to get the kids in on the act and this show does that very well. Featuring four elves setting up for the Christmas Eve party after Santa leaves, this show was one of the best. With fun gags and some of the best live singing, this ranks up there as one of my favorite theme park shows.
Rockn’ Around
I don’t often mention other theme parks in articles, but a few years ago with the Osborne Lights closed at Disney Hollywood Studios it was a sad night for many. Yet, while this may not be as over the top as those were, Rockin’ Around is the closest to that as I have seen in a long time. A perfect kiss goodnight this show starts at 6 pm and runs every 15 minutes until the park closes with lots of great music and of course snow.
