The mutant toys keep Woody from Buzz. To his surprise they repair Buzz and he tries to get Buzz to escape with him but Sid returns too quickly.Sid excitedly prepares to launch the Space Ranger but is delayed again. This time due to a brief rain storm.

Buzz is resigned to being launched off by Sid but Woody reminds him that there's a little boy who needs him.

Buzz reminds Woody that Andy loves him, too and helps him escape the crate. But Sid returns before they can get away.

Woody decides to save Buzz he must break a few rules. In the midst of Sid's countdown, Woody eerily rises from the crate and captures Sid's attention with his voice box, "Reach for the sky".
